Dos presos políticos, presionados por las circunstancias emocionales y físicas, se juntan todos los domingos al atardecer para contarse la historia de Don Quijote y Sancho Panza; lo hacen desde las limitaciones más extremas que supone el estar preso en una cárcel de alta seguridad, pero también con la necesidad vital de contarse una historia que los salve, que los transporte a una aventura humana situada en la imaginación, ese lugar al que la realidad más extrema no puede llegar, lugar donde el dolor más extremo pueda ser mitigado por el acto de imaginar otra realidad. Así, reinventan continuamente a Don Quijote, ese caballero que confunde molinos con gigantes, mujeres grises con doncella, cárceles con paraísos y que se ! exilia en la sinrazón.
